Environmental Education

Project Overview

The Environmental Education team is focused on encouraging climate literacy and increasing knowledge about sustainability on campus and in the Davis community.

What is the Environmental Education team working on?

2024-25
  • Freshman Orientation: We are working on updating the freshman orientation curriculum to include more focus on waste sorting and sustainability
  • Environmental Education Survey: In Fall Quarter 2024, we administered a survey of UC Davis undergraduates to see what students need more education on regarding climate change and the environment. We received 270 responses and this survey informed our programming for spring quarter!
  • City of Davis Q&A: In Spring Quarter 2025, we are working to create a speaker event with the Mayor of Davis, Bapu Vaitla, to help inform students about environmental policy careers and how policy is made in Davis.
2023-24
  • We created an audit for ASUCD events and creating sustainability education workshops.
  • We are creating and maintaining an ASUCD Shared Resource Sheet for ASUCD entities to catalogue their shared resources in order to reduce purchasing waste.

The Environmental Education team is lead by Meron Gebre and is composed of Annie Kanjamala, Sriya Batchu, Kelsey Meyer, Emily McDonald and Ellie Noh.
